A personal situation drove Evan’s decision to get into health care, “As I was finishing my MBA, a couple of close family members were affected by cancer,” he explains. “Seeing their journey made me want to help others in a more meaningful way.”
Prior to pursuing pain management, Evan was a neurosurgical nurse practitioner. What he saw there influenced his choice to change his specialty. “Many of those patients were already managing chronic pain,” he says. “I realized that a lot of them get linked with an unfair stigma. Now, with the current opioid law, the need for assistance has only gotten greater and I would like to help.”
Beyond the care that he provides, Evan encourages his patients to take care of themselves. “Keep moving and stay active,” he tells them.
