About Shelby Rauh, D.O.

Shelby Rauh, D.O., specializes in family medicine at Utica Park Clinic (UPC). Her professional areas of interest include lifestyle medicine, obesity medicine and reproductive health.

Dr. Rauhโ€™s journey to becoming a doctor began while she worked as a pediatric speech-language pathologist with homebound patients in rural Arkansas. It was that moment in her life when she noticed the lack of access to medical care. She decided to pivot her career to health care administration and then to becoming a doctor.

As she made her way through medical school, she ultimately decided to specialize in family medicine because she didnโ€™t want to โ€œgive upโ€ a population. โ€œFamily medicine allows me to care for family units in every stage of their lives,โ€ she said.

Dr. Rauhโ€™s passion for caring for her patients and building relationships on a trustworthy foundation always begins with the first visit. She said, โ€œI believe medicine is personal and that we can do our jobs so much better when we truly know our patients and their values – personal conversations go a long way to helping understand patients’ health goals and barriers to care.โ€

Outside of work, Dr. Rauh enjoys reading, thrifting and spending time outdoors with her son.

Dr. Rauhโ€™s nontraditional route into becoming a doctor has allowed her the opportunity to publish 15 research studies, work on an NIH-grant funded study and meet many people along the way. At the end of the day, her reminder to everyone is that sleep is medicine. Be sure to take care of yourself by getting a good amount of rest.
