About Mattie Lethermon, APRN-CNP

Mattie Lethermon, APRN-CNP, specializes in general surgery at Utica Park Clinic in Claremore. She said, “I value my relationships with my patients and build relationships with patients by taking the time to understand their health needs, personal values and backgrounds.”

Mattie’s inspiration to become a nurse practitioner started with people who are closest to her. “My family’s supportive influence and experiences growing up in rural areas inspired me to pursue nursing. My family has a large number of nurses in it from my grandmother to my mother, aunt, uncle and numerous cousins. I became an APRN that was driven by a desire to give back to underserved communities and improve access to health care,” she said.

Mattie chose to work in general surgery as an acute care specialty because, “I wanted to make a significant impact when patients faced urgent health challenges. By providing immediate and specialized care, I could be at the forefront of improving their outcomes and offering support during critical moments of their lives.”

Mattie’s advice she continues to share with patients is to, “prioritize your health and well-being, to advocate for yourself and loved ones and to remain actively participating in their care.”

Outside of work, Mattie enjoys spending time with her spouse, two dogs and family. “We enjoy watching sports, hiking, road trips and any opportunity to travel large or small,” she said.
