About Eugene Quaye, D.O.

Eugene Quaye, D.O., specializes in pulmonary critical care and practices at Utica Park Clinic on the campus of Hillcrest Medical Center. “My ultimate goal is to come alongside my patients to help them achieve their health goals whatever that may be. We both have a part to play, and they will never walk alone in their health journey,” said Dr. Quaye.

Dr. Quaye’s interest in medicine began at a young age when he was navigating his own health diagnosis. “Having had childhood asthma and being in the ER multiple times a year, it took an outstanding physician who took his time to listen to me and guide me along a healthier path. It has been my utmost goal to be that person/doctor who listens, provides guidance and empowerment to others to take control of their health,” he said.

After working his way through his medical degree and narrowing down a specialty, pulmonary critical care was still the driving passion.

“Breathing is not an optional activity. Dealing with uncontrolled asthma during my childhood years made that abundantly clear. Ever since my diagnosis of asthma, I have been interested in pulmonology,” he said. “As pertains to critical care, I enjoy the intricacies of complex physiology and the opportunity and privilege to care for the sickest patients when they are most vulnerable. It is indeed a blessing to stand with family members and offer them the comfort and support needed to get through the challenges of having a loved one in critical condition.”

When it comes to building relationships and interacting with patients, Dr. Quaye said he enjoys knowing more than is medically necessary. “I have a keen interest not only in their health goals but life outside the examination room as well,” he said.

When he’s not working, Dr. Quaye enjoys playing tennis and spending time with family.
