About Travis Nelson, D.O.

Travis Nelson, D.O., specializes in family medicine at Utica Park Clinic. “In family medicine I get the opportunity to have long term partnerships with patients to help them with every twist and turn of their health,” said, Dr. Nelson.

Dr. Nelson knew he wanted to pursue a career in health care since childhood. He attributes his growing curiosity to his teachers and professors who encouraged him along the way. He said, “they showed me how I could use scientific study and medicine to improve the quality of people’s lives.”

Dr. Nelson also took inspiration from watching expert physicians provide lifesaving treatment for his grandmother. “I watched on multiple occasions as physicians tended to my grandmother’s critical health care needs; this sparked an interest to pursue medicine, and more specifically to provide high-quality primary care,” he said.

Dr. Nelson said he chose to specialize in family medicine because of the diversity in his daily schedule, the full age spectrum that is seen and the partnerships with patients in their care. He said, “I chose family medicine as it provides the best opportunity to care for patients of all ages and health care needs. In family medicine each day is unique.”

When Dr. Nelson is out of the office, he enjoys racquetball, hiking, reading or watching science fiction, and making memories with family and friends.
