About Emily Chandler, APRN-CNP

Emily Chandler, APRN-CNP, specializes in general cardiology at Oklahoma Heart Institute (OHI).

Her professional area of interest includes preventive health and stopping bad habits before they cause long-term negative effects. Emily’s inspiration to pursue a career in medicine came from her early years growing up, watching her parents struggle to find a provider they could trust. “I wanted to be a steady figure in the community. A provider that patients could communicate with openly and honestly without feeling judged. I feel that is the best way to take care of the person as a whole,” she said. Since Emily watched her parents struggle to obtain cardiology care where they were at, she wanted to ensure smaller communities do not have that same experience. “I wanted to be able to help the community in the best possible way,” she said. Emily says her effort to build relationships with patients starts with listening. “Listening to not just why they are in the office but all the things that are affecting their overall health,” she said. A key piece of advice she likes to pass on to patients is to always be honest and to trust your provider.

Outside of work, Emily likes to watch baseball games, garden, cook and doing home improvement projects.
