About Carl Miller, Jr., D.P.M.

Carl Miller Jr., D.P.M. (doctor of podiatric medicine), specializes in podiatry at Utica Park Clinic. His professional areas of interest include educating patients on the effects of diabetes and neuropathy, integrating surgical knowledge to help resolve chronic wounds and preventing the start and recurrence of wounds.

Dr. Miller decided to pursue a career in medicine after witnessing his grandmother suffer from the effects of diabetes. “Having a strong family history of diabetes and my grandmother losing both of her lower extremities due to complications from diabetes is what moved me. My grandmother was the patriarch of our family. I was very close to her, ultimately this is what drove me to pursue a career in medicine specifically podiatry,” he said. “I knew after seeing what my grandmother went through that I wanted to focus on limb salvage and help patients regain a better quality of life.”

As Dr. Miller works to improve the lives of his patients, he also works to build trust by being reliable and consistent in providing quality care. “I believe in maintaining open communication with patients, recognizing that each patient is unique and has individual needs. I strive to educate patients in a way that is easy for them to understand,” he said.

When asked what advice he likes to pass along to patients, Dr. Miller said, “Whatever you do in life, keep moving. When you stop moving, that’s when problems arise.”

Outside of work, Dr. Miller enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
