About Zachary Sanchez, D.O.

Zachary Sanchez, D.O., specializes in general surgery at Utica Park Clinic. His professional areas of interest include abdominal, gallbladder, bowel and hernia surgeries (both open and minimally invasive/robotically). “I also enjoy the meticulous complexity of thyroid surgery and dialysis access creation,” he added.

Dr. Sanchez knew that he wanted to become a doctor at an early age. “Growing up we had a family friend who was a surgeon, he allowed me to come shadow him in the operating room (OR), and from then I knew surgery was what I wanted to do,” he said.

As he navigated his way through medical school and gained exposure to various specialties, he still wanted to be a surgeon. He said, “Through my clinical rotations I enjoyed the diversity of general surgery, the opportunity to work on all portions of the body to cure disease and help improve people’s quality of life.”

He also works to build relationships with his patients to ease their concerns. “I enjoy the personal interactions in the office setting. I appreciate the opportunity to learn about people, not just their disease process, but them as people, their interests, and to be able to formulate a care plan specific to their needs and lifestyle,” he said.

When Dr. Sanchez isn’t at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Macy, and their Bernese Mountain dog, Winston. He also likes going on walks in the neighborhood, traveling, concerts and recreational sports.
